Carolyn Gilman is a historian and museum exhibit developer specializing in 18th and early 19th-century North American frontier and Native history. She has worked as an exhibition developer at the Minnesota Historical Society, the Missouri History Museum, and the National Museum of the American Indian (Smithsonian Institution). She has also held visiting fellowships at the International Center for Jefferson Studies, Monticello, and the Newberry Library, Chicago. Her frequent guest lectures include appearances at the Library of Congress, Harvard University, and Monticello, and she has been interviewed on All Things Considered, Talk of the Nation, History Detectives, the History Channel, and countless local and regional television and radio shows. She was curator of the National Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Exhibition, which toured the United States in 2004-06.
